LIGHTWEIGHT & MEDIUM WEIGHT SHOCK TESTING

 

HI-TEST has been approved for MIL-S-901D Lightweight and Medium Weight high impact shock testing by NAVSEA Inst. 9491.1C since March 21, 1996.  Our inventory includes two Lightweight Shock Machines, one Medium Weight Shock Machine, and all standard test fixtures.  With quality service, HI-TEST is still able to complete standard tests with a quick turnaround:

  • Most standard Lightweight tests are complete in one day or less.
  • Most standard Medium Weight tests are complete in two days or less

Medium Weight Shock Testing Criteria per MIL-S-901D(Navy) Section 3.1.2(b)

  • Total weight installed on anvil plate cannot exceed 7,400 lbs or 6,000 lbs for submarine equipment. (Typically the test item limit is approximately 4,000 - 4,500 lbs.)
  • Practical size limitations shall not be exceeded.
  • Deck mounted items with resilient mounts should be subjected to heavyweight shock testing.

Hull mounted items with resilient mounts or other flexible elements that have the capability of deflecting 3 inches or more should be subjected to heavyweight shock testing.

 Lightweight Shock Testing Criteria per MIL-S-901D (Navy) Section 3.1.2(a)

  • Total weight installed on anvil plate cannot exceed 550 lbs. (Typically the test item limit is approximately 250 - 300 lbs.)
  • Practical size limitations shall not be exceeded.
  • Deck mounted items with resilient mounts should be subjected to heavyweight shock testing.
Hull mounted items with resilient mounts or other flexible elements that have the capability of deflecting 1 inches or more should be subjected to medium weight or heavyweight shock testing.
